National Grid

This was taken when I visited the lovely hot pools resort village of Hanmer Springs NZ, last weekend. Just over the hill from town the countryside becomes much wilder and  very picturesque with largely unspoiled tussock land and snowy mountains -that is  apart from the ever present power pylons which follow the road. They take electricity from the southern hydro lakes to the North Island and are very hard to avoid in a photo, at least without walking for miles. So rather than trying to clone them out, I tend to use them as a focal point.

I had intended doing this one entirely with fly edges but got playing (as I do). So the processing...
Fly Edge 24 @ Hard Light 57%
Zuriel Stone @ Hard light 77 % with a little brushed off the lower grown portion of the photo as it made things too dark.
Copy of the Background @ Overlay 72%
Labyrinth @ Hardlight 72% -this layer pulled things together and added a bit of a vignette
Levels layer to tweak the tone.
Zuriel Stone is from Summer Painterly, Labyrinth from Texbox2

Five

Another shot taken on a walk on the lovely Doctors Point Beach just to the north of Dunedin. These same people appear in a similar shot but I processed this one quite differently which shows how a different textures can give the same scene a whole new look. As well as some Flypaper Textures, I used a new one that will be available in a soon to be released pack once we've made up our minds what to include :-)

To start with I duplicated the the base layer, I then blurred that layer using the lens blur and added a layer mask and removed the blur from my subject, the people
The textures I used were
Tarte Tatin @Soft light 45%
Shargreen Bone @Overlay 45% This layer had a mask added to remove the texture from the ground area.
Bruised Saffron @ Overlay 13%
Lamp White Brush @ Soft light 25 % with the texture removed from the ground as before.
Unnamed new Flypaper (available soon!) @ Overlay 77%

Leave only Footprints...

Hot off the camera....Taken on a lovely walk on the beach this evening -there was some dramatic storm light and the sea looked amazing and even if my photos didn't do the scene justice, it was great just to be there.

This one looked okay before but I thought I'd see what I could do with some textures, it was processed using these Flypaper Textures.
Shargreen Bone @Soft light 31%
Grosgrain @Overlay 76%
Another layer of Grosgrain @Overlay 76% but this one was slightly desaturated and its hue was tweaked so it was slightly more yellow
Apple Blush @Overlay 47%
Dangerous Liaisons @ Soft Light 54%
I finished with a curves layer as usual to tweak the tone and contrast.

The castle...

This was taken after a lovely walk on my favourite beach. These two little girls were busily building a sandcastle when a wave came and washed away most of their hard work as often happens. Although this looks warm it was quite chilly but being kids they were obviously too caught up in what they were doing to notice. Their father was just a little further up the beach, well wrapped in a jacket!

I processed this using a layer of Grande Tour at Overlay 71%
Followed by a layer of Dangerous Liaisons at Colour burn 26%, this gave the photo the turquoise colour and as the crease in the texture didn't add anything to the photo I used the patch tool to remove it.
